In the year 9. A. D. the Roman Legion suffered a terrible defeat against the Germanic tribes under the guidance of Arminius. Later he made history as kown as Hermann the Cheruscan. It is the 2000th anniversary of the "Varus"- also known as the battle in the "Teutoburgerwald".

The "Lippe" region and the "country of Hermann the Cheruscan" devote to many events, activities and expositions to the yearr of "Varus" in this year. A big happening is the event "Hermann on tour". Communicating of the region with many guests and contemplators.
